International Vaccine Symposium

INTRODUCTION

The 5th Annual Meeting of the Academic Research Organizations Alliance for Southeast and East Asia (ARISE) will be held with the theme "Building Equitable, Rapid, and Sustainable Clinical Research Preparedness in the ARISE Network: Moving from Intention to Action." This year's theme reflects the Alliance's ongoing commitment to strengthening clinical research capacity and preparedness across Southeast and East Asia.

As part of its annual meetings, ARISE regularly holds a symposium. This year’s edition, held jointly with the Asia Pacific Vaccine Research Network (APVRN), is the 7th symposium in the ARISE network's series. The joint gathering contributes to a broader regional effort to strengthen research capacity, clinical trial networks, scientific expertise, policy engagement, and sustainable collaboration.

SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW

Vaccination remains one of the most effective public health interventions, preventing millions of deaths each year and reducing the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases. However, challenges remain in vaccine research and development, clinical trial capacity, manufacturing, regulatory preparedness, and equitable access, particularly across Southeast and East Asia and the broader Asia- Pacific region.

The International Vaccine Symposium 2026, held as part of a series of interconnected regional activities in Yogyakarta, provides a platform for researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, academic and clinical research organizations, industry partners, funding organizations, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration across the vaccine innovation ecosystem.

The symposium will explore key developments and priorities in vaccine research, clinical development, manufacturing, clinical evaluation, policy, implementation, and equitable access. Through scientific presentations and cross-sector dialogues, the programme aims to connect global priorities with regional needs and local implementation.
